Contemporary Abstract Paintings by Angus Abraham
My work is rooted in abstraction, using layered paint, texture and restrained colour palettes to explore atmosphere, movement and emotional response.
My paintings are built slowly through multiple layers — scraping back, repainting and allowing surfaces to evolve organically over time.
Accumulated marks and shifting textures create compositions that move between calm structure and expressive energy.
I’m drawn to imperfect textures and unexpected interactions between colour and material. Rather than working toward a fixed image, I prefer the painting to emerge gradually through experimentation and instinct. The pieces evolve through process, intuition and repeated reworking.
This process creates works that feel both structured and unresolved — balancing the tension between precision, control and spontaneity.
The work is intentional, energetic, and instinctive - less concerned with faithful representation, but capturing a moment, a feeling, a place or a memory.
Everything in the shop was produced either from my home office or from Red Room 224 at Wimbledon Art Studios, please feel free to drop in and say hello. I always paint wearing a KG&TLW tour t-shirt, usually under the watchful and judgemental gaze of my cat, Vesper.
When I’m not painting I’m likely out swimming, cycling or running, or maybe in the yoga studio. I’m currently studying to become a therapist.
